Club América won the 2024 Campeones Cup, a battle between the defending champions of Liga MX and MLS.

Goalscorers: Amundsen 77′ ; Davila 68′

It was back and forth from the start, an exciting performance for neutral spectators, but probably nerve-wracking for fans of both sides.

After both sides wasted great chances in the first 45 minutes, the deadlock was finally broken when Víctor Dávila came off the bench and scored the first goal after somehow managing to get behind the Crew's defense.

This lead was almost gone within a few minutes when Cucho Hernández, after an excellent one-two with Maximilian Arfsten, fired a shot from close range just a few centimeters wide of the post.

Luis Malagón was dominant in goal for América and thwarted numerous scoring opportunities for Columbus with a headstand.

But the Crew is simply unbeatable at home and was able to equalize with an unexpected goal from Malte Amundsen after a scramble in the penalty area.

After the final whistle, the score was tied and for the second time in a row, the match went to penalties, with the goalkeepers coming out on top.

After both sides had missed in three consecutive rounds, NĂ©stor Araujo stepped up and converted the decisive penalty.
