10/24 FINALE – Kings 3, Sharks 2

Home, dear Kings fans! It's already the end of October, but we finally played our first game on home ice. The Kings hosted the San Jose Sharks at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday, opening the first of their 41 home games. With the crowd's energy and excitement evident, the Kings got off to a good start, which was what they needed as the game progressed.

It was a quick start for the Kings as Jordan Spence needed just 4:31 to score first. After a clean move into the offensive zone, Spence received a pass as the last man in the zone and scored his first goal of the season with a wrist shot. A major period of Warren Foegele as the Foegele line followed, and the Alex family (Turcotte and Laferriere) continued to develop their early chemistry since its inception. After scoring his first goal of the season in Vegas on Thursday, Foegele shut down the Sharks in the first period and scored two more goals. Foegele got both in front of the blue team, grabbed a rebound and had a deflected goal that accounted for his two goals, helping the Kings to a 3-0 lead in a period in which they trailed the Sharks 17-7 let themselves.

The remaining 40 minutes were not the Kings' best two periods of play, as the team committed five penalties, was outrebounded 19-13 and conceded two power play goals from Mikael Granlund. Granlund brought the game back to two goals midway through the game and then gave Kings fans a bit of a scare with his second PPG with exactly a minute to play. The Kings would prevail after several Sharks opportunities failed in the final seconds, moving to 4-2-2 on the year.

David Rittich came into play when needed and stopped 24 of 26 shots.
