2024 NLDS: Tommy Edman has 'great experience' with Dodgers fans

The Los Angeles Dodgers made several moves at the July 30 trade deadline this season, including acquiring Tommy Edman as part of a three-team deal with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox.

Edman spent the first five seasons of his career with the Cardinals and found success as a super utility player. He has experienced playoff baseball in all of these seasons and is now doing so with the Dodgers.

In addition to being two of the most successful organizations of the last decade, the Dodgers and Cardinals are also praised for their fan support. “Both fan bases are really great and supportive. They know the game very well,” Edman explained.

“I think it’s a little louder at Dodger Stadium. I think there are just more fans and a different atmosphere in the stadium, a little more optimistic. I love both fan bases and have enjoyed getting to know the Dodgers fan base a little over the last few months. It was a great experience here.”

Edman previously faced the Dodgers in the 2021 National League Division Series as a member of the Cardinals. He played his first postseason home game at Dodger Stadium this week and was impressed by how loud the stadium was.

“Every time I came here during my time in St. Louis, I noticed how loud it was. It definitely wasn’t a surprise, but it’s nice to be on that side of things,” Edman said.

Edman has helped anchor the Dodgers' lineup in two NLDS games against the San Diego Padres, as he is 3-for-7 with a run scored and two stolen bases.

Due to right wrist surgery and an ankle sprain suffered during his recovery, Edman didn't make his Dodgers debut until August 19, but still enjoyed great success.

He hit .237/.294/.417 with five doubles, one triple, six home runs, 20 RBI, 20 runs scored and six stolen bases in 37 games while appearing at three different positions.
