OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – 6 News Daybreak has the headlines you need to know to start your Monday.

6 first alert weather days Monday to Wednesday

Our weather team has declared six days of initial weather warnings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday due to the risk of widespread frost and freeze.

Meteorologist Jaret Lansford reports Monday will get off to a chilly start with temperatures in the low to mid 30s.

“Even as the day progresses, we will remain cooler than many of our recent days, with highs nearing 60 degrees,” Lansford said. “Unlike yesterday, the wind will remain light throughout the day and the sun will shine.”

Police investigate fatal crash in central Omaha

Omaha police say they are investigating a crash that killed a man Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred at Blondo Street and Keystone Drive near Central Omaha.

Stanley Wilder, 69, was driving eastbound when he lost control of his pickup truck and entered the westbound lane.

Wilder's truck then crashed into another truck, left the road, overturned and then crashed into a fence and a parked car.

He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Report shows new weekly gas prices in Omaha

Average gasoline prices in Omaha have fallen 5.3 cents per gallon in the last week.

A GasBuddy price report found that gas now averages $2.84 per gallon on Monday. They examined 300 subway stations.

“Prices in Omaha are 7.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 56.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago,” GasBuddy says.

Matt Rhule speaks to the media before the game against Indiana

Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule holds his weekly press conference Monday after a bye week.

This will be the 5-1 Huskers' second road game of the season as they travel to Bloomington, Indiana to face the Hoosiers.

Grace Boyles of 6 News Sports reports that the undefeated Hoosiers will also be coming off their first week off of the season.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT and will be Fox's Big Noon Kickoff Game.

Decision 2024: Latest with Trump, Harris campaigns

The Harris campaign announced that Nebraska Gov. Tim Walz will make a stop in Omaha on Saturday.

It's Walz's second trip to the subway this election season, as he visited the Astro Theater in La Vista in August.

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris is focused on crafting a new plan that will empower Black men as she works to win their votes.

Former President Donald Trump called for an increase of 10,000 Border Patrol agents after he killed a bipartisan bill earlier this year, AP reports.

“Trump has made illegal immigration a focus of his campaign, blaming Vice President Kamala Harris for a record increase in unauthorized crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border,” AP says.

The United States is helping to defend against Iran

AP reports that an Israeli attack on a hospital tent camp in Gaza killed four people and ignited a fire that left more than two dozen seriously burned.

“Israel is still carrying out almost daily attacks across the Gaza Strip more than a year after the war began and is carrying out a major ground assault in the north, where militants are said to have regrouped,” AP says.

The Pentagon has said the US will send a missile defense system to Israel to help it defend itself against Iran.

According to AP, the deployment of a THAAD battery was approved at the direction of President Biden.
