Bill Simmons reflects on the strange experience of working on the Vince McMahon documentary

Bill Simmons had quite a bit of experience during his interview with Vince McMahon for the Netflix documentary “Mr. McMahon.”

In the latest episode of Bill Simmons PodcastSimmons discusses his role as executive producer of the Netflix documentary “Mr. McMahon” with The Ringer's David Shoemaker, who served as a consulting producer on the project.

“It was certainly the strangest documentary I've ever been involved in,” said Bill Simmons. “Even when he was eager to do it, he wasn't there on time or on the days he was supposed to be there. He always had people with him. There were always people hanging around in the background making sure nothing weird happened.”

Shoemaker would point out that the people in the background often reminded Vince of things from his past that he couldn't remember.

“Yeah, and remind him of things from his past. There was always a team,” said David Shoemaker. “I don't think Vince – it sounds so weird to say this – I'm not sure Vince knew what it meant to make the documentary, and I'm not sure he knew what story he wanted to tell. I don't even know if he knows enough about who he is to tell that story.” (H/T: F4WOnline)
