Phillies heartthrob Nick Castellanos, beer-soaked and shirtless, rocks the iconic gay anthem after the decisive victory in the division

Nick Castellanos is shirtless, beer-soaked, and blaring “Dancing on my Own” from the clubhouse speakers.

It must be time for playoff baseball!

The Philadelphia Phillies, also known as the gayest team in MLB, won their first division title since 2011 on Monday. It was a wild scene at Citizens Bank Park when pitcher Carlos Estévez got the final out of the game, fittingly a fly ball that landed in Castellanos' glove.

It didn't take the Phillies long to give the people – or at least the gays – what they wanted to see: his hot body!

Castellanos, affectionately known as “Big Nick Energy,” often goes shirtless under his jersey. His chest-baring style is infectious, and the All-Star encourages his teammates to adopt it.

“The message, according to Castellanos, was to relax and unwind,” Philadelphia Inquirerwrote Alex Coffey last year.

His teammates took his advice and started wearing his signature overalls on the court…sometimes with nothing underneath. Castellanos brought the overalls back on Monday, but with a twist. Or, more accurately, several twists.

On Monday, Castellanos fit “seven or eight” beers into his Phillies-themed overalls…according to him!

With celebratory EDM music blaring in the background, Castellanos was asked if he would have thought 10 years ago that he would ever be asking so many questions about music.

He answered with endearing nonchalance.

“Ten years ago, I wouldn't have thought I would make it to the big leagues, so for me, this was a pretty big jump,” he said.

We love a humble king!

While Castellanos' Mediterranean looks are appreciated here, the Phillies outfielder stands out above all for his – how shall we say it? – I don't care about anything aura.

Beyond overalls and shirtless beer baths, Castellanos is a huge fan of “Dancing on my Own,” a generation-defining gay anthem. Although the Fightin' Phils play Callum Scott's version, we all know Robyn is the mastermind behind the iconic bop.

The lyrics are about the difficulties and ultimate beauty that come from forging your own path – whether on the dance floor or in life. This message resonates with LGBTQ+ people and is one reason why the song remains a club anthem today.

The Phillies started dancing on their own in the fall of 2022 when they reached the World Series. Although they abandoned the song at the start of the 2023 season – players said Robyn's words reminded them of their World Series loss – the banger came back … as it always does.

After a season-deciding victory in early June, hitting coach Kevin Long gave his instruction: “Play the damn song!”

From then on, the Phillies played really well in their playoffs and until the start of the season. In fact, they even improved their playlist queer-friendly with the recording of Chappell Roan.

Although we didn't hear a single Chappell hit during the Phillies' champagne-soaked party on Monday, it's safe to say they were “Naked in Philadelphia.”

Or at least… almost naked. Some players were topless.

Surprise!

Castellanos was right in the middle of it all, of course. With their first division title in 13 years, the Phillies and this party crew are on the verge of perhaps their greatest postseason success.

And we will dance with them!
