Jimmy Johnson attacks Panthers owner after substituting Bryce Young: “Stop playing fantasy football”

Jimmy Johnson has experienced a lot of football throughout his life, leading the Dallas Cowboys to two consecutive Super Bowl victories in 1992 and 1993.

It's safe to say that Johnson – who has been an analyst for FOX since his coaching career ended in 1999 – knows a lot about managing an NFL roster.

On FOX NFL's pregame show before kickoff at 1 p.m. Sunday, Johnson specifically voiced his opinion on the Panthers' decision to bench quarterback Bryce Young, who they selected No. 1 in the draft last year.

While Carolina head coach Dave Canales publicly stated that the decision to bench Young was his own, Johnson blames Panthers owner David Tepper for the controversial move.

“The owner of the Carolina Panthers,” Johnson said. “That's the problem … he makes the decisions without listening to the football people. He needs to listen to his football people and stop playing fantasy football.”

Johnson then listened to a number of changes that took place under Tepper's watch, including the transfers of Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore and Brian Burns, as well as the hasty firing of several coaches.

Carolina will face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET with Andy Dalton at quarterback.
