This is the most disturbing thing Vince said in the documentary series “Mr. McMahon”

In the second episode of the Netflix documentary series Mr McMahonThe rape allegations made by former WWF referee Rita Chatterton against Vince McMahon in 1986 are briefly discussed.

A clip is shown from Rita's appearance on Geraldo Rivera's television show in 1992, in which she says the following:

“I was forced to perform oral sex on Vince McMahon. When I couldn't fulfill his wishes, he got really angry and started ripping my jeans off, pulled me on top of him and told me again that if I wanted a million dollar contract a year, I had to satisfy him. And if I didn't satisfy him, I would be ostracized. I was scared. My wrist was all black and blue. He just wouldn't stop.”

If the producers of Mr McMahon When I asked Vince about Chatterton's rape allegation in 2021, he responded with what I think is the most disturbing quote from him in the entire six-part docuseries:

“If you're accused of rape, you're a rapist. But it was consensual. And actually, if it was rape, um, the statute of limitations would have run out. So, I mean, that's all kind of crap that people dig up and try to find out about you.”

The fact that Vince thinks it's theoretically OK to use the statute of limitations to dismiss a rape allegation as “crap that people dig up” is, at least to my ears, extremely disturbing.

In 2022, a year after Vince's interview with Netflix, a New York law was changed that temporarily allowed victims of sex crimes to file lawsuits that would otherwise have been barred by the statute of limitations. Chatterton sued McMahon, and Vince reportedly reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with her by January 2023.
