Record heat forecast continues in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – It's another day of the Valley's first weather warning, with a predicted high of 110 degrees. That's just slightly cooler than yesterday's record-breaking 113 degrees, which was the last high of 110 degrees or more in the valley.

Normal highs for Phoenix this time of year are in the upper 90s. Today's forecast high temperature of 110 degrees would break a record. We'll probably break records this weekend and next week too.

Strong high pressure remains over our region, currently centered in New Mexico. As it moves toward Arizona on Friday and Saturday, temperatures are expected to climb even higher.

Expect a scorching weekend with morning temperatures in the 70s and 80s, warming to 112 degrees on Friday, 113 degrees on Saturday and 110 degrees on Sunday. At this point, temperatures don't appear to be dropping until early next week.

While the initial weather alert days, along with the excessive heat warning, continue through Sunday, the warning is expected to be extended into next week.

Highs of 110 degrees are also forecast for next Monday and Tuesday. No rain is expected for the next seven days as dry air prevails in the southwest.
