Positive feedback

Film critic Courtney Howard wrote in a tweet: “#Devara is an explosive, exhilarating and simply sublime rush of adrenaline.” “It Goes Hard” combines powerful ferocity, fast-paced stakes and fast-paced action. Dance and fight choreographies are driving. NT Rama Rao Jr. brings fire and charisma. FUN STUFF!”

Another Twitter review said, “#Devara delivers solid crowd moments, with @tarak9999's intensity and @anirudhofficial's score standing out.” Koratala Siva knows how to keep the energy high, but I couldn't help but agree feel that there was room for deeper character exploration. The last few minutes setting up the sequel felt a bit anticlimactic. Overall it's more than decent, but not really great. Still, with its highlights and strong performances combined with a great score, it's a watch that will captivate and entertain you. I just finished watching #Devara and I'm overwhelmed! 🤯 The visuals, the action, the performances… everything is top notch. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

One fan wrote: “#JrNTR absolutely delivers a powerful performance. It is shaping up to be the next big South Indian blockbuster, right on par with Baahubali. I can’t wait to see it again!”

Also a few negative ones

A fan commented, “First half >>> second half, the second half feels a bit boring till the pre-climax and the twist in the climax is disappointing 😑😐😑 #Devara But #NTR & #Anirudh are at the top of their game.”

Another person was less impressed. “#Devara is disappointing. After hearing the songs and seeing the release trailer, we were looking forward to this magnum opus, but neither the story nor the visual effects lived up to our expectations. Anirudh is one of the few people who have done their job since the beginning. Siva Koratala's subtle writing style strains one's patience. NTR's outstanding performance is a waste. We are not sure why Jahnavi Kapoor was included in this film. For those who were hoping for something extraordinary, Devara is overall a huge disappointment,” they wrote.

Another disappointed viewer remarked, “#Devara – 1.75/5 – Koratala’s another Acharya. Devara is nothing but Koratala Siva garu's sloppy storytelling. The conflict in the film is weak, the dynamics are poor and the twist is predictable. The cinematography is fine and the much praised shark sequence becomes a joke. Though Saif's character is strong, the story arc is weak and Janhvi Kapoor's screen time is limited to songs, NTR is good once you take a look at Aayudha Pooja song, which is worth watching for NTR's fantastic dance on a big screen. The rest can easily be avoided.

About Devara

In this film directed by Koratala Siva, Jr NTR plays a dual role, playing both Devara and Varadha. His character is central to the plot, which revolves around a dramatic conflict of wills in a coastal setting where power dynamics are constantly in flux. It is produced by Kosaraju Hari Krishna and Sudhakar Mikkilineni under the banners of NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts and presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The film was released on September 27 in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
