Whole Foods responds to rumors of Berry Chantilly cake discontinuation – NBC Chicago

Ardent fans of a popular dessert featured at Whole Foods Market were spooked earlier this week by rumors online that the chain would be discontinuing its Berry Chantilly Cake.

Rest assured the sweet treat isn't going away, according to a company spokesperson.

“Previously, our Berry Chantilly Slice Cake program varied depending on the store location. We recently adjusted the flavor profile, size, packaging and price so that customers in each of our stores have the same high-quality experience – a delicious slice of cake with fresh fruit, berry compote, cream cheese mascarpone and fluffy vanilla cake layers. ” said a statement from Whole Foods Market.

The chain said both whole cakes and individual Berry Chantilly slices will continue to be available in stores, although there may be slight differences – such as the placement of the berries in the cake.

As slice size increased in most stores, individual slices began putting berries on the side. The solution was used by many stores to keep the delicate pieces of cake intact.

According to the chain, the window size has been increased in most stores and is now the same across locations.

The Berry Chantilly cakes are available year-round, with seasonal variations such as Mango Yuzu Chantilly in the spring and Figgy Foggy Chantilly cake with fig jam and Earl Gray frosting in the fall.

The Berry Chantilly cake was first introduced in a Whole Foods store at the Arabella Station store in New Orleans about 20 years ago, using a recipe developed by a team member that is still used today.

After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, some team members moved to Houston and brought the recipe with them, which led to it being introduced to stores across Louisiana and eventually the country.
