When are the Harvard Art Museums at Night and the Boston Vegetarian Fest taking place?

Tuesday

Rally for Rooney

Whether you're a religious Sally Rooney reader or curious about the hype, visit Trident Booksellers at intermezzo Release party. In Rooney's new novel, two very different brothers explore love, desire and grief after their father's death. The event in her honor (the author will not be in attendance) will feature book-themed games and cocktails, as well as the opportunity to win prizes. Food and drinks can be purchased from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For tickets, $32 including a copy of the book, go to tridentbookscafe.com.

Thursday

Night at the museum

Fill your Thursday evening with art, music, food and drink at the Harvard Art Museums at Night. DJ C-Zone plays music in the courtyard, food and drinks from local vendors are for sale, and more than 50 galleries are open for after-hours exploration. Current exhibitions include “Art of the Black World” and “A Colloquium in the Visual Arts.” 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. For free. Registration required at harvardartmuseums.org.

Friday-Sunday

Beer Bash

Boston's Oktoberfest celebrations continue with Night Shift Brewing's weekend celebration. The event takes place at different locations each day: Friday at Night Shift's three beer gardens (Allston, Esplanade and Greenway); Saturday at the Everett Taproom; and Sunday at the Lovejoy Wharf Brewery and Restaurant. Activities include a stone lifting competition. All three days feature food, drinks and live music from various bands, including a traditional German Oompah band. Free. nightshiftbrewing.com

Saturday

Celebrate Chinatown

Installations for the arts festival were erected in the neighborhood on September 1, but this Saturday the exhibitions come to life with Experience Chinatown's performances and activities (rain date Sunday). Musical entertainment includes Taiwanese artist JC Alula and her band performing a medley of R&B, jazz and rock. Artist-led drop-in activities celebrate the history and culture of the Chinatown community. Free. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. paoartscenter.org

Saturday and Sunday
