Nassourdine Imavov says Brendan Allen can't be in charge ahead of UFC Paris: 'I have more hype'

Nassourdine Imavov believes Brendan Allen is not capable of making so many demands.

Imavov (14-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) will face Allen (24-5 MMA, 12-2 UFC) in the middleweight co-main event of UFC Fight Night 243 (ESPN+) on Saturday at the Accor Arena in Paris. Allen initially said he would not fly into enemy territory to fight Imavov unless it was a main event. He then accused Imavov of turning down a five-round fight. Imavov is confused by Allen's stipulations and says five rounds were never on the table.

“He wanted a lot of things, but that doesn’t matter,” Imavov told reporters through an interpreter at the UFC Fight Night 243 media day on Wednesday (h/t La Sueur). “He has my back. He has no hype. I have more hype than him, I'm ranked higher than him. So he has nothing to claim.”

“He’s coming to my town. The contract the UFC sent called for three rounds, and I'm not afraid of five rounds. As you can see, my last fight against Jared was initially a three-round fight and then they came back to me. “Two weeks before the fight he asked me to do a five-round main event and that was no problem.

If Imavov gets past Allen, he will set his sights on former champion Israel Adesanya.

“I have heard media saying that a fight with Adesanya would be good and people seem interested,” Imavov said. “It’s two real styles, so I think it could be a great fight.”
