Eagles DT leaves game against Buccaneers

play

TAMPA – The Eagles continued to lose key players as cornerback Darius Slay left the game early in the third quarter with an unspecified injury.

This came after safety Reed Blankenship left late in the first half due to illness. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.

Those are two starting defenders. Isaiah Rodgers replaced Slay while Tristin McCollum replaced Blankenship. But Slay returned later in the third quarter and the Eagles trailed 30-16.

Then defensive tackle Jalen Carter left late in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury. At the end of the quarter he was taken to the locker room.

Additionally, right tackle Fred Johnson went to the medical tent after the Eagles used a tush push to set up Jalen Hurts' 1-yard TD. But Johnson returned for the next series.

Johnson replaced Lane Johnson, who suffered a concussion last week against the Saints. The Eagles were also without top wide receivers AJ Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion).
