Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos open Week 5 odds

The Denver Broncos completed a two-game road trip with impressive defensive dominance and back-to-back wins. The defense gave up a total of 16 points and the offense managed just enough to win this week after pulling off a blowout victory two weeks ago. The Las Vegas Raiders have been less consistent in recent weeks after picking up a home win over the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago and falling at home to the Carolina Panthers.

According to FanDuel, the Broncos open Week 5 at home as a 1.5-point favorite against the Raiders. The over/under for this match is 36.5.

If the home team gets within three points, that gap suggests an advantage for the Raiders, which at first glance seems ridiculous considering how the two teams have played over the last two weeks. What is there?

Well, we could look at the recent history of this rivalry. The Broncos haven't beaten the Raiders since December 2019 – an eight-game losing streak. As with the end of the losing streak against the Kansas City Chiefs last year, Denver must overcome the crisis and end the losing streak against the Raiders before they gain more respect at home against a division rival that has played worse football than the Broncos in recent weeks.

What do you think? Are the Raiders really on par here after suffering a tough home loss to the Panthers and barely beating the Browns at home this week? Given that the Broncos have outscored their opponents 36-16 on the road over the last two weeks, I would say no.
