Saturday Night Live parodies Jasmine Crockett in Charli XCX sketch

Saturday Night LiveThis weekend's 50th season debut of “Dallas” included a skit that parodied Dallas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett.

The skit was a kind of cultural crossover – a fictional talk show in which singer Charli XCX (Bowen Yang) interviews Crockett (Ego Nwodim).

Yang wore a jet-black wig and spoke with a pseudo-British accent (pronounced “Texas”) Tex-ahss) in his impression of a host introducing Crockett.

As Nwodim's Crockett sat down, she asked if she was the “brattest” congresswoman – a reference to Charli XCX's latest album bratwhich has become shorthand for uncompromising expression and hedonistic fun. The “brat” defending champion is a tie between Crockett and U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, Yang replied.

Dallas Rep. Jasmine Crockett speaks at the Democratic National Convention

Crockett appeared on the first night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

“I have a song on my album called 'Mean Girls' and you went viral this summer for what you called Marjorie Taylor Greene,” he added.

Nwodim then uttered the viral insult — “pale blonde, poorly built, fleshy body” — that Crockett said during a verbal argument with Greene at a House Oversight Committee hearing in May. That comment came after Greene told Crockett, “I think your false eyelashes are confusing what you're reading.”

Crockett's profile skyrocketed after the exchange and she has since served as national co-chair of Harris-Walz's presidential campaign.

She found out about the SNL parody while getting off a plane.

“I had a full day in the District with my good friend Governor @iamwesmoore but had to catch a flight to Milwaukee,” Crockett wrote on X early Sunday morning.

“When I landed my phone was blown up because of @nbcsnl! @eggy_boom really played yours!! Hopefully our paths will cross one day when I'm in town so I can thank you in person!” she added.
