CORVALLIS, Arch.With a total yardage of over 300 yards (341 yards) and a time of possession of over 40 minutes, Oregon State defeated Purdue 38-21 on Saturday night.

Jam Griffin led the Beavers' (3-1) running attack with 137 yards – a season high – including a touchdown on 22 carries. Anthony Hankson rushed into the end zone twice and managed a total of 89 yards in 20 chances. Zachary Card found the end zone for the first time in his career and finished his day with 45 yards on two touches.

Gevani McCoy led the Beavers in passing, completing 104 yards on 10 of 18 passes through the air, while Thomas B. covered 37 yards with three catches.

Sixteen Beavers recorded a tackle on the night and were led by Skyler Thomas' 7.0 and a couple of pass break-ups. Zakaih Saez recorded an interception in the first quarter when he grabbed a deflected ball off the foot of a Purdue receiver and turned it into a touchdown. The Beavers defense held firm, holding Purdue scoreless in two red-zone trips in the first half — with drives that came up empty and ended as close as the Beavers' 11-yard line.

After a 20-yard interception by Saez that was returned for a point and a one-yard run by Hankerson, the Beavers stormed out to a 14-0 lead and were in good position 16 minutes into the game. Although the Boilermakers cut their deficit in half in the second quarter with a 32-yard sprint to the end zone, the Beavers responded with 10 unanswered passes to build a 17-point lead after three quarters.

Touchdown runs by Griffin (14 yards) and Hankerson (12 yards) in the fourth quarter ended the scoring drive and kept the lead at 17 points after Purdue had scored 14 points of its own.

Oregon State held the ball for 40 minutes and 15 seconds, more than three minutes more than their average time of possession this season, which was 37 minutes and 09 seconds. The Beavers' 341 rushing yards were the second-most of the season so far and the second instance of at least 300. In Oregon State's season-opening win last month, the Beavers posted 362 rushing yards against Idaho State.

The Beavers will be back in action on October 5 against Colorado Stateth after a week off. The game at Reser Stadium starts at 3:30 p.m. and can be seen on The CW.
