Jake Tapper reacts to CNN's interview with Donald Trump Jr.

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins interviewed Donald Trump Jr. after the vice-presidential debate on Tuesday evening, a request Jake Tapper eliciting an extremely expressionless response.

For almost two hours, Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio answered questions from CBS News anchors Norah O'Donnell And Margaret Brennan. Experts largely judged Walz's performance and considered Vance the more skilled debater. However, viewers were evenly divided over which candidate delivered the best performance.

Collins then spoke to the younger Trump in the spin room and sparred with him after noting the politeness of the debate and asking, “Should we see more of this on the debate stage with your dad up there?”

“You know what? “I'd like to see that across the board,” he replied, before moving on to attack the media for “Trump confusion syndrome” and “Russian disinformation.”

“You know, the media did this,” he said, claiming the press framed the former president Donald Trump in danger. “They created so much of this environment. The media has radicalized the people trying to kill my father. I've had to deal with this twice now in the last two months. I've had to have this conversation with my five young children, twice in the last two months, about someone trying to shoot their grandfather.”

Collins noted: “There was no evidence” that the conspiracies against the ex-president were driven by the media. The younger Trump accused the media of calling his father “Hitler.”

The CNN anchor then took the obvious next step, explaining, “But as you know, JD Vance also once compared your father to Hitler – he wondered if he was America's Hitler.”

Collins ultimately thanked Trump for his time and gave it back to Tapper.

“Jake, back to you.”

“Well, that was it a lot” explained Tapper.
