BloodPop and I had written that together and then I kind of took it to the next place. It was all in the image of the character, but also, so to speak, in the core of her soul, which is actually just me.” Gaga said Apple Music.

She continued, “Every character I play just has me as the gravity.” On this record, I'm struggling with a lot of feelings about so much of what I've been through as an artist, about everything that I've been through when I was in the I grew up in public and about the industry since I was a teenager. One of the lyrics reads: “I play tragic words in this comedy play.” “The audience smiled and cheered a scene that was absurd.” I thought about when women play these broken characters in music, in films or in the theater , the audience loves it and just cheers us on – they cheer on the image of pain.
