Daniel Day-Lewis is preparing his son Ronan's return as an actor with “Anemone”.

Daniel Day-Lewis returns to acting with his son at the helm.

Day-Lewis is set to star in the film anemone from debut director Ronan Day-Lewis. The film comes from Focus Features and Plan B and marks Daniel Day-Lewis' first acting role since 2017 Phantom threadwhich the Oscar-winning actor had said would be his last project before retirement.

The father-son duo co-wrote the script, which explores family bonds, particularly those between fathers, sons and brothers. Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green round out the cast.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with Ronan Day-Lewis on his first feature film with a brilliant visual artist, along with Daniel Day-Lewis as his creative collaborator,” Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski said in a statement. “They have written a truly exceptional script and we look forward to working with the Plan B team to bring audiences their shared vision.”

The creative team includes cinematographer Ben Fordesman, costume designer Jane Petrie and production designer Chris Oddy.

Universal Pictures International will distribute Focus internationally.

Ronan Day-Lewis, 26, is a filmmaker and painter whose upcoming solo exhibition premieres in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

Daniel Day-Lewis is a three-time Oscar-winning actor who is one of the best of his generation. He won the Oscar for Best Actor for My left foot, There will be blood And Lincoln.

He also received Oscar nominations for his roles in In the name of the father, Gangs of New York And Phantom thread.

In a 2017 statement, Day-Lewis announced his retirement from the craft. “Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer work as an actor,” the message said at the time. “He is extremely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years.”
