Pat Murphy's motto for the Milwaukee Brewers all season has been “Win today.”

His team needs to employ this approach more than ever if it wants to continue the 2024 season. For the Brewers it's either win or go home on Wednesday against the New York Mets.

After losing 8-4 after a nightmarish fifth inning in Game 1 of the National League's best-of-three wild-card series on Tuesday, the Brewers will be in survival mode as they face the Mets in Game 2.

Maybe the success they had against Mets starter Sean Manaea tonight will work in their favor when they last saw him. Led by Rhys' Hoskins' grand slam in the first inning, the Brewers scored five runs against Manaea in an 8-4 win in the final series of the regular season last Friday.

Right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas starts for the Brewers, who are looking to avoid losing their seventh straight playoff game of 2021 and their sixth straight postseason series. A Brewers win extends the series to a winner-take-all game on Thursday.
