Houston Texans vs Minnesota Vikings: Important information and discussion about the first quarter

There are just thirty minutes left until kickoff in Minneapolis, ladies and gentlemen. The Houston Texans (2-0) come to US Bank Stadium to take on the Minnesota Vikings (2-0). Here's everything you need to know before this week's game.

Time and date: Sunday, September 22, 2024, 12:00 p.m. Central Time

Location: US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Television coverage: WCCO-4 in the Twin Cities, CBS affiliates nationwide, YouTube TV Sunday Ticket

Radio reporting: Vikings Radio NetworkSiriusXM channel 231 (Vikings feed), SiriusXM app channel 820

line: Vikings +1.5, Over/Under 45.5

Chris' prediction: Vikings 23, Texans 20

Three keys

1) Win the sales battle – The Vikings have had it pretty easy under Kevin O'Connell. They have a 19-0 record in the regular season when they have an even or better turnover rate in a game and a 3-14 record when they don't. They have been even in their first two games this year and can't afford bad turnovers, especially the one they had in the red zone against the 49ers. The Vikings have to take care of the ball.

2) Confuse CJ Stroud – Stroud is one of the best young quarterbacks in the National Football League, but this is only his second season. Brian Flores is on top form right now and certainly has a lot of things for Stroud that he hasn't seen yet. The Texans have explosive potential on offense and will have to do their best to keep the young signal caller off balance.

3) Don’t get caught up in the “revenge” hype – We fans love to talk about “revenge” games, and there are plenty of them in this game as Stefon Diggs and Danielle Hunter return to Minnesota. The Vikings can't get into that mindset as the Texans have many other talented players besides those two. It will take a whole team effort to pull off a win this afternoon.

That should be all you need to know to be up to speed on this point, folks. Remember, a new open thread starts at the beginning of each quarter, so keep an eye out for that and continue the discussion accordingly.

Enjoy the game, ladies and gentlemen, and hopefully in about three hours we can all hang out and talk about how great it feels to win 3-0 for a team that wasn't expected to do much in 2024.

SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
