NCAA March Madness returns to San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – March Madness returns to San Francisco, more specifically to the Chase Center.

On Wednesday, the NCAA announced that SF's Chase Center will host the 2028 Division I Men's Basketball West Regionals. The West Coast Conference acts as host. Exact dates for the regional round, which will consist of the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, will be announced at a later date, according to Chase Center.

As previously announced, the venue will also host the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball West Regionals on March 27 and 29, 2025.

Next year, Chase Center will host March Madness for the second time. In 2022, during the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball West Regionals in Chase, Duke University reached the Final Four after defeating Arkansas 78-69.

This was the first time San Francisco hosted March Madness since before World War II. In 1939, the city hosted the West Regionals at the California Coliseum on Treasure Island.
