West Ham United v Ipswich Town: Premier League – BBC Sport

  • West Ham have lost just one of their eight Premier League meetings with Ipswich (W3 D4), a 1-0 home defeat in March 2001. Their last such meeting was a 3-1 win for the Hammers in March 2002.

  • Ipswich have won their last two league games with West Ham, beating them 1-0 away and 5-1 at home in the 2011/12 Championship season.

  • West Ham United have taken just five points from their first six Premier League games this season (W1 D2 L3), the fifth time in the last nine seasons that they have had five points or fewer at this point in the campaign.

  • Ipswich Town have drawn each of their last four Premier League games. The last team to draw five games in a row was Fulham in January 2021.

  • West Ham have lost their three home games in the Premier League this season, starting a season with three home defeats for the first time. The Hammers have not suffered four consecutive top-flight defeats at the London Stadium since their last four home games under Manuel Pellegrini in November/December 2019.

  • Ipswich are winless in all six Premier League games this season (D2 L4) and have only started a top flight season with a prolonged winless start once, in 1969/70 (7 games).

  • West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui could become the 12th coach to lose his first four Premier League home games in charge of a club. Of the previous eleven players, Bryan Robson at West Brom in the 2004/2005 season was the only one to achieve this in a season in which the club did not get relegated.

  • Only Leicester (52) have had fewer shots than Ipswich Town (53) in the Premier League this season, with the Tractor Boys also recording the lowest xG of any team in open play (2.9).

  • Tomas Soucek scored his 29th Premier League goal for West Ham United in a 1-1 draw against Brentford, overtaking Milan Baros (28) for second place among the top Czech goalscorers in Premier League history, behind only Patrik Berger ( 38 goals).

  • No player has more yellow cards in the Premier League this season than Ipswich midfielder Sam Morsy (4). Since his league debut at Ipswich in September 2021, only one player in the league in England's top four divisions has more yellow cards than Morsy's total of 40.
