NCAAF Game Thread: Colorado vs. Nebraska History, Predictions, Game Notes for Saturday

Nate M. Brief thoughts: An undefeated dream? I just wanted to include that in the title, even though Nebraska has never lost to Rutgers in program history.

Nebraska is far more popular than it should be. I believe Rutgers will make Nebraska look like a bad football team and in the end it will come down to special teams and the Huskers will fail.

Nate M Prediction: Rutgers 21 – Nebraska 18

Date: Today.

Location: Memorial Stadium – Lincoln, NE

Time: 3 p.m

Information about the TV broadcast: FS1 (Alex Faust and Robert Smith)

Radio info: Husker Radio Network with Greg Sharpe, Damon Benning and Jessica Cody. For a list of partners, visit Huskers.com/Listen.

Rutgers – Nebraska History: Nebraska and Rutgers will meet for the seventh time overall and sixth time as Big Ten Conference opponents. The Huskers have won each of the series' six games, including victories at Memorial Stadium in 2014 and 2017.

• The last meeting was a Friday night game at Rutgers in the 2022 season, with the Huskers winning 14-13.

• Saturday's game will be the first matchup in Lincoln since the 2017 season, when Nebraska posted a 27-17 victory over the Scarlet Knights.

• Before the 2014 match in Lincoln, the schools had not met since a 28-0 Nebraska victory in 1920 at the famed New York Polo Grounds.

Matchup from Husker Game Notes: Nebraska returns to Lincoln for Homecoming weekend while the Huskers face Rutgers in a Big Ten Conference matchup at Memorial Stadium. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. CT, with FS1 providing televised coverage of the contest. The game can also be heard on the Huskers Radio Network and the Huskers app.

After a 28-10 road win at Purdue, the Huskers are 4-1 this season and 1-1 in the Big Ten Conference. After trailing 3-0 until the third quarter, Nebraska scored 28 points in just over 12 minutes of play to take the win. Nebraska's defense limited Purdue to just three points until the final minutes of the game, while the Huskers' balanced offense pushed into Purdue's territory on every possession in the game.

Rutgers comes to Lincoln with a 4-0 record after posting a 21-18 win over Washington in the Scarlet Knights' Big Ten opener on Friday night. The victory over the Huskies followed a perfect non-conference record, highlighted by a road win at Virginia Tech. Coach Greg Schiano's team boasts one of the best rushing offenses in the country, as Rutgers averages 237.8 rushing yards per game and more than 420 yards per game in total offense. The Scarlet Knights have committed just two turnovers in four games during the 2024 season.

Saturday's game marks the first matchup between the schools in Lincoln since 2017. The last two meetings between Nebraska and Rutgers were in Piscataway, with the Huskers winning in both 2020 and 2022. Overall, Nebraska won all six meetings in the series, including both games at Memorial Stadium.
