In Alabama football's first road game against Vanderbilt since 2017, the Commodores shut out the team some consider the number one team in college football.

At halftime at FirstBank Stadium, Alabama trailed Vanderbilt 23-14 after allowing two rushing touchdowns and a score on an interception return. Jam Miller has both Crimson Tide scores.

Vanderbilt has the most points it has scored in a game against Alabama since September 14, 1996. The Commodores' 23 points were the team's total points in its last five games against Alabama combined.

The Crimson Tide are seeking their fifth win to open the 2024 college football season after wins over Western Kentucky, South Florida, Wisconsin and Georgia. Vanderbilt has victories against Virginia Tech and Alcorn State, but suffered consecutive losses to Georgia State and Missouri.

A highlight-reel throw from Jalen Milroe to Germie Bernard deep in Alabama's own territory was called back. Milroe found himself in front of the finish line and the completion was ruled an illegal forward pass. After an Alabama punt, the Commodores take over at the Alabama 45-yard line.

6:15, Q3: Vanderbilt's offense continued to pressure Alabama's defense, converting two third downs and consuming nearly six minutes of game time. But the Crimson Tide forced a punt after Que Robinson lost several tackles.

12:01, Q3: Jalen Milroe and the Alabama offense started fast against the Vanderbilt defense. Milroe led the Crimson Tide with a five-play, 53-yard touchdown drive capped by a 14-yard quarterback rush. Emmanuel Henderson started the drive with a 46-yard kickoff return.

Alabama has its starting offensive line back at the start of the second half. Jaeden Roberts was back on the right guard after Geno VanDeMark played at the end of the first half. Roberts was seen on the sidelines with his helmet in hand.
