No. 1 junior soccer player Jahkeem Stewart will be reclassified to 2025

Five-star defensive end Jahkeem Stewart, ESPN's No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class, announced his reclassification to the 2025 class on Saturday, immediately solidifying him as one of the most coveted non-committal prospects in the cycle two months after committing early .

Stewart, a 6-foot-1, 270-pound pass rusher from New Orleans, announced his reclassification on social media.

Ohio State, Oregon, LSU and USC are now considered finalists for Stewart's pledge. He will visit each school over the next two months, a source confirmed to ESPN.

“He has been dominating the four- and five-star category since seventh grade,” Clyde Alexander, a coach who represents Stewart, told ESPN. “Some of those kids are in the NFL now and (Stewart) still had two years of high school left. Every head coach, coordinator and (defensive coach) has him on their board as the No. 1 player, regardless of class.”

Stewart became the top-ranked high school defensive lineman in the country at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, where he totaled 85 tackles (33 for loss) and 20 sacks in his sophomore season last fall. Stewart is ineligible to play in Louisiana high school football this fall after transferring from St. Augustine to nearby Edna Karr High School during the season last month, a move that signaled Stewart's eventual plans for reclassification .

“St. Augustine helped me become a much better person when I left there. It taught me a lot of things,” Stewart told ESPN on Sept. 6. “My plan is to find a school that I'm looking for.” It really just helps me make my decision and helps me make the decision I want to make.

Stewart's reclassification makes him the top-ranked uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class and throws a match into the final months of the cycle before the Dec. 4 early signing period. Other high-profile, non-committal prospects include five-star defensive linemen Elijah Griffin (No. 5 in the ESPN 300) and Justus Terry (No. 7) and four-star athlete Michael Terry (No. 24).

Stewart made summer trips to Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, Texas and Auburn and was in Las Vegas for the USC-LSU neutral site opener in Week 1.
