Parks and recreation facilities will be closed Monday, programming will be canceled prior to TS Milton

In preparation for the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Milton, the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department will close all facilities and suspend programming beginning Monday, October 7, to focus on critical storm preparedness.

In coordination with other city departments, Parks and Recreation staff are helping clear storm debris after Hurricane Helene, a top priority as the city prepares for another storm. This collaborative effort will ensure major thoroughfares, residential streets and public areas remain clear and safe both before and after the storm.

In addition to debris removal, Parks and Recreation is also preparing park facilities for the impending severe weather by securing equipment and protecting vulnerable structures that could be impacted by high winds and heavy rain.

Limited Parks & Recreation staff will continue to provide assistance to residents at the two self-service sandbag sites open to city residents until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the following locations:

  • Al Barnes Park (2902 N 32nd St.)
  • Himes Avenue Sports Complex (4501 S Himes Ave.)

Once safety is assured following the storm, city parks and programming will return to normal operations.
