SNL delivers the second part of “Washington's Dream,” which fans hailed as the show's “best sketch in years.”

Saturday Night Live delighted fans with the second part of the sketch “Washington's Dream,” which was hailed last year as the show's “best sketch in years.”

Nate Bargatze reprized his role as George Washington to share more of his hopes and dreams for the country with his fellow Revolutionary War soldiers Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, Bowen Yang and James Austin Johnson.

The sketch makes fun of the peculiarities of the American English language. As his men wonder whether they will win the battle, Bargatze's Washington tells them: “We will survive the coming battle because we fight to control our own destiny, to form our own nation… and our own thing with the English one.” to make language.” ”

“I dream that one day our great nation will have a word for the number 12,” he continues. “We call it a dozen.”

“And what other numbers will we have a word for?” asks Yang.

“None,” Bargatze replies, completely expressionless. “Only 12 shall have its own word because we are free men, and we will have the freedom to spell some words two different ways.”

Yang asks, “Chickens, sir?”

“That remains,” says Bargatze. “Chickens are chickens.”

The scene was a summary of American standards and other peculiarities, including lines like: “We are free men!” And we are free to measure liquids in liters and milliliters… but not all liquids, just soda, wine and alcohol. For milk and paint, God willing, we will use gallons, pints and quarts.”

When one of his soldiers (Day) asks how many liters are in a gallon, he simply replies, “Nobody knows.”

Last night, SNL also made fun of the vice presidential debate between JD Vance (Bowen Yang) and Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan).

Kamala Harris (Maya Rudolph) and Doug Emhoff (Andy Samberg) watched as the two stared into each other's eyes and found “common ground,” causing Rudolph to spit out wine and exclaim, “Why are they vibrating?”
