College football's top 10 has been reshuffled after Week 6's upsets

Sometimes, despite what Creedence Clearwater Revival says, there is no calm before the storm. What seemed like it would be a pretty quiet Week 6 in college football turned out to be anything but, as four top-10 teams – and nearly a fifth – suffered a loss. As a result, the US LBM Coaches Survey now looks significantly different.

Texas, which was fortunate to have the week off, remains No. 1 with 44 of 55 first-place votes. The remaining 11 firsts went to No. 2 Ohio State, which used a strong second half to hold off Iowa. The Buckeyes' next opponent, Oregon, moves up three spots to No. 3 and has next week's headliner, Eugene.

Georgia and Penn State round out the top five, while Alabama and Tennessee each fall five spots to Nos. 7 and 9, respectively. The Crimson Tide suffered a shock at Vanderbilt, while the Volunteers fell on the road to Arkansas. Miami, Florida, moves up to No. 6 after attempting to escape California in the early hours of the morning. Mississippi climbs to No. 8 after a surprise win at South Carolina, and LSU moves into the top 10.

No. 22 Boise State tops the list of three freshmen in the poll this week. No. 24 Pittsburgh and No. 25 SMU are also moving in. Southern California, Louisville and UNLV are out.
