Bengals HC Zac Taylor declares late play call in Bengals' overtime loss to Ravens

CINCINNATI – The Bengals took a conservative approach and finished their final stretch of play on Sunday. Zac Taylor discussed why the team ran three consecutive runs to score a missed 53-yard field goal.

Ryan Rehkow ended up botching that grab to confuse McPherson.

“When you're in field goal range and you believe in your kicker, it's really that easy,” Taylor noted of the Bengals' approach in overtime.

On the next drive, the Ravens won 41-38 with their own field goal.

“We feel like we’re in field goal range,” Taylor said after the game. “We’ve thrown the ball in this situation before. We call the pass. Joe really did a great job of getting us out of the situation and getting us back on a run because the look wasn't there to throw it. And so there was good management. “From him we got a few more yards ahead and then we're in a position to win with the field goal and we thought we were going to win it with that.

Cincinnati suffered some amazing plays from Lamar Jackson and held off Derrick Henry in regulation but not in overtime, where he scored on a 51-yard run.

“Well, we have to find a way to play this again,” Taylor said of the final victories. “I thought there were going to be a couple plays today where I pointed out that we did that and unfortunately the score was 41-38. So I was excited, since we got to that point in the fourth quarter, I felt like we got it done. “I made a lot of those plays where I could be really positive, but at the end of the day it's just not happened.

The Bengals are now clearly in last place of all AFC teams.
