Record temperature at Levi's Stadium for the Cardinals-49ers

Heat traveled with the Arizona Cardinals for their Week 5 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Levi's Stadium set a new heat record on Sunday with a kickoff temperature of 95 degrees.

Not quite the same heat that Arizona State and Kansas experienced the day before, but still hot.

At the start of the matchup, the previous high was 88 degrees. This was set during a loss to the Seattle Seahawks on October 3, 2021.

For the Cardinals, who regularly practice in the heat, it's just another day to end the year.

“It's certainly hot for everyone going out there, but we train out here in the heat so I'm sure we'll be fine,” Cardinals center Hjalte Froholdt said Friday.

With the heat wave heading toward the Bay Area, the 49ers requested a change to their all-white uniforms, but the NFL denied it. Instead, San Francisco will wear its alternative look of red jerseys and white pants.

“We asked on Monday and we weren’t allowed,” 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters earlier this week. “You had to do it before the season started. In order for us to do this, we need to make a conscious decision or commitment before the year that we will wear all white until mid-October and then transition to normality. But it’s usually not that hot.”

Meanwhile, the Cardinals are rocking their all-white look.

“I feel like the sun is shining every time we’re there,” quarterback Kyler Murray said Wednesday. “The field seems a little greener. It’s a beautiful landscape, so I’m excited to be out there.”
