Rock singer insults city; Now two radio stations there no longer play his band's music

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day, is from Oakland, California and is a big fan of track and field.

As a result, he is not happy about the A's moving to Las Vegas, leading him to make an unkind comment about the team's new home.

““I hate Las Vegas. It's the worst hole in America,” Armstrong said while performing with Green Day in San Francisco, People reports. He made these comments while simultaneously criticizing the A's ownership for the team's move.

Two radio stations were unhappy with Armstrong's comments and have now removed Green Day's music from their playlists. KOMP FM/92.3 announced their intentions in a post on Instagram.

“KOMP 92.3 has removed all Green Days from our playlist,” the post reads. “It’s not us, Billie… it’s you.”

X FM/107.5 announced on its website that Green Day would also not be playing due to Armstrong's comments.

“Well, Sin City heard it loud and clear – and X107.5 didn’t,” the statement said. “In response to Armstrong’s inflammatory statements, the station is banning all Green Day music effective immediately.”

Entertainment Weekly reports that Green Day has not performed in Las Vegas since 2004. Armstrong reportedly did not respond to the bans.
