TJ Watt makes NFL history with loss to Dallas Cowboys

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker TJ Watt is going down in history. While the elite edge rusher and the Steelers lost 20-17 to the Dallas Cowboys, Watt achieved a feat that few others have achieved in their careers. Watt recorded his 100th sack on Sunday against the Cowboys, becoming the second-fastest player to reach that milestone, doing so in just 109 career games. The only player to ever do it faster was Hall of Famer Reggie White.

Just five days before his 30th birthday, Watt reached the 100-sack milestone, becoming only the third player in NFL history to do so. White and Jared Allen were the only other players to reach 100 sacks before their 30th birthday. In other words, Watt is on a historic pace that only one other player has matched or exceeded.

The Cowboys allowed Watt 1.5 sacks on the day, giving him a total of 101 sacks. Watt forced a fumble, which was also recovered by Nick Herbig. Watt is already the leading sack player in Steelers history and on Sunday became the first person ever to reach 100 sacks.

Currently, Watt is on track to become a first-ballot Hall of Famer, adding his name to the pantheon of the greatest pass rushers in NFL history.
