Troy University Police are investigating a report of a person with a gun on campus – The Troy Messenger

According to a news release from Troy University, campus police responded to a 911 call about a person with a weapon in the Newman Hall area of ​​campus.

The university ordered a protective alert on campus around 11:13 a.m. and after an investigation of Newman Hall – and adjacent buildings – university police said they found no evidence of a threat on campus and there were no shots fired or injuries occurred reported.

Additionally, there was a report of a “suspicious person” near the Lagoon area on campus, and police arrested a suspect who still had outstanding warrants and was taken into custody.
However, according to the press release, police do not believe this person was in any way connected to the earlier 911 call.

Troy University Police will continue to investigate the matter but believe there is no active threat on campus. All campus lockdowns were lifted at 12:47 p.m
