Cowboys' Jourdan Lewis blasts George Pickens after Steelers star forfeitly grabs his face mask: 'Weak'

Around 1 a.m. Monday, the Dallas Cowboys scored a late-game touchdown and defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road.

But after a desperate last-second play by the Steelers, one of their stars was seen tearing a Cowboy's face mask at the final whistle.

The broadcast showed the moment the Steelers failed for the second straight game and Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis was seen saying something to Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.

At that moment, Pickens subtly grabbed Lewis' face mask, causing him to fall to the ground. An officer witnessed the altercation and intervened before Lewis could return to Pickens.

As Lewis walked through the tunnel, he was caught blasting Pickens for his behavior on Sunday night and even suggesting that the franchise get a new star.

“Pittsburgh needs a receiver. “George Pickens is weak,” Lewis was heard saying.

With Justin Fields and the Steelers' passing game struggling, Pickens didn't have his best performance on the stat sheet, managing just 26 yards on three receptions despite seven targets.

And that was after the NBC show picked up the message on Pickens' Eyeblack, which read: “Always open fucking.”

Pickens' performance comes after a breakout game last week in the loss to the Indianapolis Colts, where he had seven catches for 113 yards on 11 targets. However, Pickens has yet to find the end zone this season.

After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin commented on Picken's lack of production, especially since his snap count was his lowest all year at just 34 that night. It was the first time in his young career that he was on the field for fewer than 60% of the team's snaps.

“We just wanted to minimize his reps to increase productivity,” Tomlin said. “We’re just trying to represent the whole of the big picture. He was no less central to our intentions of what we wanted to do offensively.”

While Pickens has demonstrated his ability to be a top option in the passing game, reports have been surfacing for months that Pittsburgh is looking to acquire another veteran option.

First, it was Brandon Aiyuk who reportedly turned down a deal that both the Steelers and San Francisco 49ers had made for him. Aiyuk would eventually sign long-term with San Francisco, something he had always wanted.

Now that Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams has reportedly requested a trade, the Steelers have an “aggressive offer” they're considering, according to The Athletic.

Pickens is in his third season with the Steelers after being drafted in the second round by Georgia. Last year, he led the NFL in yards per reception, reaching 1,140 with just 63 catches and five touchdowns.
