Deane scores in away loss to Jaguars

BATON ROUGE, La. | Freshman Czaske Deane was the lone Maroon White scorer in the Alabama A&M football team's (3-9-1, 1-1 SWAC) 2-1 loss to Southern University (2-9, 1-0 SWAC). on Sunday afternoon.

Although both teams were evenly matched with their shots on goal, the Jaguars were able to find the net twice in the first half to tie the game.

The Bulldogs opened the game with three shots on goal before Deane found the net unassisted in the 17th minute. AAMU controlled the game for just over 20 minutes before Iyanla Bailey-Williams scored the equalizer in the 39th minute. The Jaguars went into halftime with the lead after Journee Mitchell found Giftee, who sent the ball into the net in the 44th minute.

The second half was slower as the Bulldogs were only able to stop the Jaguars from having two shots on goal. In a final attempt to even the game, Jasmine Perez Acosta sent the ball towards the bottom right penalty area one final time in the 89th minute, but SU goalkeeper Sydney Bellamy grabbed it and secured the win.

The Bulldogs return to the Hill on Sunday for Senior Day at Bulldog Soccer Field. Kick-off is for 1 p.m.
