Jerry Jones draws a clear line as Mike McCarthy signs a contract with the Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones believes the pressure of not having a contract beyond 2024 will get the best of Mike McCarthy. We have yet to see if that's true, but what we can say is that every win or loss will lead to more questions about his future with the Dallas Cowboys.

This is especially true after a loss like the one in Week 2. Dallas lost at home to the New Orleans Saints, which naturally raised questions about McCarthy's future.

Jones had no problem addressing the issue and used it as an opportunity to remind McCarthy that only success in the playoffs would lead to a second contract.

McCarthy is under pressure for the loss to New Orleans, but Jones knows the regular season doesn't mean much. They've been beaten and bounced back in the past. They've embarrassed other teams, only to hit a brick wall later in the season.

Despite all of this, they continue to win – in the regular season. McCarthy has a 12-5 record for three years in a row and is 43-26 overall in Dallas. The problem is that he is 1-3 in the postseason.

Unless the playoff drought ends, Jones seems ready to move on. If that doesn't motivate McCarthy, nothing will.
