PennDOT announces holiday closures for driver's license and photo centers

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that all driver's license and photo centers, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday, October 12, 2024, through Monday, October 14, 2024, in honor of Columbus. remain closed Day/Indigenous Peoples Day.

Despite the closures, customers can continue to access a range of driver and vehicle services online through PennDOT's Driver and Vehicle Services website. These services are available 24/7 and include:

  • Renewal of driver's license, photo ID and vehicle registration
  • Driver History Services
  • Address changes
  • Driver's license and vehicle registration restoration letters
  • Payment of restoration fees
  • Duplicates of driver's licenses and photo IDs
  • Real ID pre-verification
  • Scheduling driver exams

There are no additional fees for using PennDOT's online services.

For those planning to visit one of PennDOT's Online Messenger Service Centers during the holiday season, PennDOT recommends calling ahead to confirm hours of operation.

Additionally, Pennsylvania residents are reminded of the upcoming federal deadline of May 7, 2025, which requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or other federally acceptable identification (e.g., a passport or military ID) for domestic air travel and access to federal facilities .
