NV energy tariffs will increase by 4% following Commission approval

NV Energy customers will see a 4% increase in their energy rates after the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approved changes as part of an overall rate review. The new rates, which include a slight increase in the basic monthly fee for single-family home customers, went into effect on October 1 and will be reflected in the next billing cycle.

Despite the rate increase, NV Energy said in a message to customers sent Monday that average bills nationwide fell 10% compared to the same period last year. This decline is due to lower costs of natural gas and electricity purchased on the market, with savings passed directly to customers.

The aim of the general tariff review is to cover the cost of significant investments by NV Energy to meet new growth demands and improve electricity supply reliability. These investments include the expansion of power lines and infrastructure, the modernization of pylons, power lines and substations, and the improvement of existing power generation facilities to ensure electricity availability during peak summer demand. Additionally, NV Energy has invested in information technology systems to protect the electric grid from cybersecurity threats.

NV Energy emphasized its commitment to providing safe and reliable services while maintaining low energy costs. Customers needing assistance managing energy usage and costs can visit nvenergy.com/heretohelp or contact NV Energy for 24/7 assistance.
