Spirit Halloween has plans to make the transition from spooky-ok to holly-happy!

The temporary retail chain, which is popping up in stores across the country in September and October, will remain in place longer than usual this year. The company confirms this to PEOPLE.

Ten Spirit Christmas stores will open in the Northeast, with some taking over current Spirit Halloween stores and others opening in new locations where guests will be greeted by a giant, winking Santa Claus instead of the retailer's typical cape-wearing skeleton mascot.

There will also be a real version of the Christmas icon to meet and take photos with.

“Each store offers a unique shopping experience, packed with a huge selection of holiday decorations, apparel, inflatables, gifts and holiday gifts,” a spokesperson for Spirit Halloween told PEOPLE about the new pop-ups.

“Guests can meet Santa for their annual Christmas card photo and receive a free digital postcard featuring you and Santa,” the spokesperson continued. “Walk through the life-sized gingerbread village where you can send your letter to Santa Claus at the North Pole and find out if you were naughty or nice.”

The official Spirit Christmas website also hints at what the free Christmas pictures that can already be booked will look like. They show a family posing with the big one while sitting among oversized presents and gingerbread houses.

The first Spirit holiday store in Mays Landing, New Jersey, is scheduled to open its doors on October 18, while the other nine locations are scheduled to open in early November.

There will be several more holiday mall pop-ups in New Jersey, with locations in Marlton, Brick and Woodbridge. In New York, Spirit Christmas pop-ups are also opening in Albany, Bohemia and Poughkeepsie.

Locations are also planned to open in Erie, Pennsylvania; Waterford, Connecticut and Dartmouth, Massachusetts. All pop-ups will remain open during the holiday season.

News of Spirit Halloween's holiday pop-ups follows the headline-making beef with Saturday Night Live.

After the live show's 50th season premiere featured a Spirit Halloween sketch – a commercial parody that poked fun at the chain and its short-lived nature – the retailer responded on social media.
