Teams make progress against Posta 3 Fire in Campo; Evacuations remain in effect

UPDATE: (Oct. 8): The so-called Posta 3 fire in the Campo area has burned at least 350 acres and was 10% contained as of early Tuesday morning, according to Cal Fire San Diego officials.

Evacuations ordered due to the fire remained in effect Tuesday morning. A temporary evacuation center has been set up at the Golden Acorn Casino (1800 Golden Acorn Way) in Campo.

The following roads were closed as crews continued to battle the fire:

  • Old Highway 80 from Kitchen Creek Road to Crestwood Road
  • State Route 94 from La Posta Road to Old Highway 80

CAMPO (KGTV) – A wildfire known as the Posta 3 Fire is burning near La Posta Road and Old Highway 80 in Campo. As of 5:18 p.m., Cal Fire officials said the area had grown to 281 acres and was rapidly spreading.

Evacuation orders apply to residents in the red shaded area. Because of the impending danger, officials are urging residents to leave immediately.

San Diego Sheriff's Department

Multiple evacuation warnings and orders are in effect as firefighters work to contain the fire. San Diego sheriff's deputies, Cal Fire personnel and CHP officers are on scene assisting with evacuations.

A temporary evacuation point is available at Golden Acorn Casino, 1800 Golden Acorn Way in Campo.
