Chicago Sports is coming to Bloomington and broadcasting on television via a new channel

The new Chicago Sports Network will air on over-the-air television in the Peoria-Bloomington market.

The network plans to launch the channel on WHOI, the former home of Peoria's ABC affiliate, owned by Sinclair Broadcasting. Since ABC switched to WEEK in 2016, WHOI has primarily aired syndicated programming on subnets such as TBD, Charge! and Comet aired.

The channel broadcasts Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Blackhawks games. The new channel launched this month following the closure of NBC Sports Chicago.

A launch date and specific channel number for the network have not yet been announced. The Chicago Sports Network launches on channel subnets in Chicago, Rockford and South Bend, Indiana.

The plan is to carry the network over-the-air to 13 TV markets, as well as on cable, satellite and streaming. A digital antenna is required to capture an over-the-air signal.
