Here's how to vote early

Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin expects a huge increase in early voting. That's how he wants to vote.

Early voting gives you the convenience and flexibility of a nine-day period in which you can cast your vote in person at a voting machine without having to wait until Election Day.

There are 10 locations where any Essex County voter can cast a ballot during the early voting period – Saturday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 3. So if you live in Montclair, early voting locations in West Orange, Bloomfield, or Verona could be convenient for you.

Hours of operation for in-person voting are: Monday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Sunday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. An appointment is not necessary.

When New Jersey polls close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, all early voting results will be released.
