Call Disney! Call Bob Iger!

Chris Pine has no idea about The Princess Diaries 3 diversity Earlier this month it was confirmed that it was officially in development at Disney. The Star Trek favorite made his film acting debut in 2004 in the sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. He played Nicholas, the slow-burn love interest of Anne Hathaway's Mia Thermopolis. By the end of the film, the two characters were linked, so The Princess Diaries 3 will either have to star Pine in the lead role or be forced to explain Nicholas' absence.

“I don't know anything,” Pine said on “Today With Hoda & Jenna” when the topic of the third “Princess Diaries” came up. “Call Disney!” Call Bob Iger!”

“Today” co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager expressed shock that Pine wasn’t in the loop for the sequel. “You don’t know anything?” asked Hager.

“The answer is, I’ll have to see,” Pine added. “I don't know anything about it. I think it’s fantastic.”

Development on “Princess Diaries 3” is progressing and will be directed by “Crazy Rich Asians” screenwriter and “Joyride” filmmaker Adele Lim. Flora Greeson is writing the script. Plot details have not been confirmed, but the threequel is expected to continue the story of 2001's “The Princess Diaries” and its 2004 sequel “Royal Engagement” and is not a reboot of the series.

“As a die-hard fan of the original 'Princess Diaries,' I'm thrilled to be part of bringing the third installment of this beloved series to life,” Lim said in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating its core values of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences around the world.”

“Princess Diaries 3” has been on the rise since 2022. Hathaway shared an update in an interview with V Magazine last year, saying, “We're in a good place.” There's nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place.”
