Does the firing of Robert Saleh make the Davante Adams trade more or less likely?

As of Monday, the Raiders reportedly wanted to trade receiver Davante Adams within 48 hours. As of Wednesday, he still had not been traded.

The Jets were the best candidate for a trade because of his connection to Adams de facto Offensive coordinator, head coach, GM and owner Aaron Rodgers. After the Jets' surprise decision to fire coach Robert Saleh, are they more or less likely to do so?

Our guess is less likely. (That means the deal will likely be completed as soon as this article is published.) The Jets have plenty of plates going on right now. Adding Adams to the mix would be one too many.

Adams would make sense if the goal was to turn a clear playoff contender into a Super Bowl contender. Since the Jets may not be a playoff contender, will Adams make them one?

They have a No. 1 receiver in Garrett Wilson. They don't need Adams. You have to run the ball. You need balance. You need more creativity. They need someone to keep Rodgers in check.

At a time when evidence suggests that Rodgers got wind of offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett's demotion and pushed for Saleh to be fired first, the addition of Adams will only make it clearer that Rodgers is in charge.

Of course, him Is run the show. The question is whether they are willing to make this more clear.
