DOWNTOWN – Rising house DJ and Naperville native John Summit is bringing his friends to Chicago this weekend for a live electronic music festival.

The three-day John Summit and Friends event will take place Thursday through Saturday at the Huntington Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island, 1300 S. Linn White Drive. Friday and Saturday are sold out, but tickets are still available for resale.

Tickets are sold online through Ticketmaster and Live Nation. They start at $89.45 for Thursday, $136.85 for Friday and $157.30 for Saturday. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

The music festival celebrates Summit, a Chicago-based music producer. He will take the stage with friends such as hybrid techno DJ Kevin de Vries, Californian dance music artist Max Styler, pop and electronic music pro Chris Avantgarde and several others.

Summit is “a rising star” in the house music industry, known for hits like “Make Me Feel” and “Forgotten One.” His 2024 debut album, Comfort in Chaos, was released on July 24 and has amassed more than 280 million Spotify streams. According to Summit's Spotify, it explores human dualities such as vice and virtue, as well as ups and downs.

He has also often viewed the social media feeds of his TikTok girlfriend Ashtin Earle and her sister Alix Earle.

While Summit is now a sought-after name in the global dance music scene—playing sold-out shows at venues like BMO Stadium in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York, as well as festivals like Coachella—he started out as an accountant and teaching YouTube tutorials to music productions at night. He studied accounting at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before turning to music in 2019.

Just a year later, Summit experienced a breakthrough with the release of “Deep End” in 2020, which was named EDM brand Beatport's number one song of the year, according to EDMTunes.

The festival is organized by Experts Only, a record label and event brand founded by Summit.
