After their 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Tuesday night, the San Diego Padres became the new favorite to win the 2024 World Series at DraftKings Sportsbook.

At +300, the Padres are now ahead of the New York Yankees, who are the No. 2 betting pick at +350. The full list of World Series odds is as follows:

  • San Diego Padres: +300
  • New York Yankees: +350
  • New York Mets: +500
  • Los Angeles Dodgers: +800
  • Kansas City Royals: +800
  • Detroit Tigers: +900
  • Cleveland Guardians: +900
  • Philadelphia Phillies: +1000

The Padres now lead the Dodgers 2-1 in the NLDS and can punch their ticket to their second National League Championship Series appearance in the last three seasons with a home win in Game 4 on Wednesday night.

At 93-69, the Padres made the playoffs as a wild-card team and finished five games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.

However, the Padres finished the regular season as one of the hottest teams in baseball, going 16-8 in September. They also used this momentum to early playoff success, defeating the Atlanta Braves in the NL Wild Card Round.

After the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the NLDS, the Padres rebounded with a 10-2 win over LA in Game 2 before winning 6-5 in Game 3.

While the Padres have received contributions from across the roster so far in the postseason, superstar slugger Fernando Tatís Jr. has led the way, hitting a remarkable .556 with four home runs and seven RBI in five games.

San Diego is the long-distance favorite in the NL, while the Yankees hold that title in the AL, although their American League Division Series with the Kansas City Royals is tied 1-1.

After a 6-5 win over the Royals in Game 1, the Yankees fell 4-2 in Game 2, meaning Wednesday's Game 3 in Kansas City will be crucial for both teams.

The Yankees have by far the most talent of any team remaining in the AL, but they haven't gotten much out of the likely AL MVP in Aaron Judge.

After hitting .322 with 58 home runs and 144 RBI in the regular season, Judge went just 1-for-7 with four strikeouts in two playoff games.

However, Juan Soto has three hits in eight at-bats, and if both the Yankees and Padres could reach the World Series, he would be a central part of the story since San Diego traded him to New York in the offseason.

In the other ALDS, the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers are tied 1-1. Given that both have over 900 points to win the World Series, this suggests that they both have an equal chance of advancing to the ALCS.

Meanwhile, the New York Mets took a 2-1 series lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS on Tuesday and secured a 7-2 win in Game 3.

Similar to the other NLDS, the Mets finished well behind the Phillies in their division as Philadelphia won the NL East by six games.

However, the Mets have appeared to be a doomed team in the playoffs ever since first baseman Pete Alonso hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning of the NL Wild Card Series to beat the Milwaukee Brewers.

New York was considered one of the longest odds to win the World Series in the playoffs, but the Mets are now the No. 3 seed and can reach the NLCS by beating the Phillies in Game 4 on Wednesday.
