Miguel Rojas injury: Dodgers SS leaves NLDS Game 3 in third inning

Miguel Rojas is trying to play through a torn adductor, but it didn't work out in Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Padres at Petco Park. The Dodgers shortstop exited Tuesday night's game in the third inning.

In Game 3, Rojas' injury limitations began to show. On a potential groundball double play in the second inning, Rojas tried to run to second base before throwing to first and ended up getting zero outs instead of two. In the bottom of the third inning, he felt something run on a single to third base, loading the bases. Rojas was immediately taken out of the game under the watchful eye of coach Thomas Albert.

Andy Pages pinch-run for Rojas and stayed in the game in center field in the bottom of the inning, while Tommy Edman moved from center to shortstop.

It was a great year for Rojas at the plate, along with his usual excellent defense at shortstop, although he was hampered by leg problems in the second half of the season. After the injury worsened in the final week of the regular season when an MRI showed a tear in his adductor muscle, Rojas was treated and rested for a week and a half before starting each of the first three games of the NLDS.

“I mean, all the days we've had off are helping me be at my best,” Rojas said Sunday at Dodger Stadium. “It’s going to be a struggle to stay like that the entire postseason because our goal is to play three more weeks and keep going.”

Rojas reached base with a single in the third inning and had two hits in eight at-bats during the series.

We'll wait for any post-game updates on Rojas' availability for the rest of the series.
