What are Crumbl cookies?

For those unfamiliar with the brand, Crumbl Cookies is an ever-growing cookie chain founded in Utah in 2017 by two cousins. According to the brand's website, the company now has more than 800 locations in 49 states and two stores in Canada.

The dessert chain, which is becoming increasingly popular thanks in part to social media, has a rotating menu. Around 12 to 14 different flavors are released every week. In addition, the cookies are said to be very tasty and generously portioned and the company prides itself on high-quality ingredients. The sweet treats are also freshly baked to order.

The company's iconic pink box holds the cookies side by side and is available in a pack of 4, 6 or 12. However, the most popular is the 4-pack.

If you haven't tried Crumbl yourself, you've probably heard a review from someone who either loves or hates the cookies.

On the hater side, many people complain that the cookies are too sweet or have a single flavor note.

Calorie information

In a viral video with more than 130,000 views, TikToker TeeEmUp (@teeemupplug) said that Crumbl's cookie drops are comparable to sneaker drops.

He pointed out that their latest brownie drop (which the website describes as a “gooey brownie with crispy chocolate edges, topped with velvety vanilla mousse, topped with warm fudge and finished with rainbow sprinkles and a cherry on top”).
has a worrying amount of calories.

“Crumbl needs to be investigated,” TeeEmUp said.

Just one brownie sundae has 1,130 calories and 220 mg of cholesterol. For comparison, depending on your risk factor for heart disease, you should consume no more than 200-300 mg of cholesterol. AAccording to UCSF Health.

“They want you to get into cholesterol debt. “What's going on?” said TeeEmUp. “…If you have more than one of these, you have a problem. You need to be examined and sent to work immediately.”

While calorie intake depends on various factors such as age, gender and activity level, moderately active women need an average of 1,600 to 2,400 calories per day, while their male counterparts need 2,000 to 3,000 calories, according to Health.

Other high-calorie desserts

But Crumbl isn't the only place serving high-calorie desserts. Here are a few other desserts with 1,000 or more calories:

  • Cheesecake Factory – Ultimate Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake
  • Dairy Queen – Royal Reese’s Brownie Blizzard
  • Applebee's – Triple Chocolate Meltdown
  • TGI Fridays – Brownie Obsession
  • Chilies – Molten chocolate cake

Current controversy

Some people are boycotting the brand and calling it racist after online viewers noticed that Crumbl reposts many YouTubers' videos, but rarely reposts black YouTubers (although their videos also get hundreds of thousands of views).

They also came under fire when other manufacturers previously criticized their desserts for their high calorie content.

“I'd rather die before eating sprinkle cookies,” was the top comment.

“No, because I don’t even understand how to eat a whole piece. I have a quarter and am getting intestinal rot,” one person said.

“Nah because realistically WHAT do they put in these cookies to make it cost 1k,” asked another.
